Curt's Birthday Party

For Curt's birthday, Lacey and Landon decided to have a birthday party for him. They brought up steak, salad, and a birthday cake. Jerry and Shelly came up, too. Mary and Maxine were at Grandma Kjar's (Maxine's birthday, too!) and came over so we all had dinner together.

Sanpete County Fair weekend 2011

Friday night we all went to the Demolition Derby. Lacey, Landon, Jayleigh, Logan, Lyndsay, Chris, Amanda, Cody, Carter, Curt, and I all sat together. The next morning, on Saturday, Lacey and Amber ran in the 5K that started near Temple Hill. Joan also ran, but I had to get a picture of Joe, too.
Here they are--getting ready to take off!
Saturday afternoon we celebrated Cody's 4th birthday. Cashelle's family's moonsand was a hit with him.
What a character. He reminds me of Vanna White.
Baseball bat and balls--watch out windows!
Chillin' in the backyard.

Time to blow out the candles!
Here we are, waiting for the annual parade to start.
Oh, Carter, you are such a cutie! I think he's eating one of the pieces of candy he found.
Cody was so cute. When someone drove by with candy, he would raise his hand.

Disneyland 2011

We made a second trip to California to see Cashelle and A.J.'s family before the summer was over. This time we made a trip to Disneyland--it was exhausting but so much fun. We hadn't been there since Cashelle was about 10 or 11, so it's been a while. When we first got there, we went on the Peter Pan ride. This one is the teacups.
Audrey, you clown. Aren't these two girls so cute!
Inside the "Crush" (from "Finding Nemo") interactive program. Crush talks to members of the audience. It was so cute. The time before we were there, he talked to Madalynn and A.J.
Awww, the princesses. We stood in line for about an hour to get to see the princesses. They were a huge hit.
Spencer loved getting to sit on Belle's dress. Even the boys enjoyed the princesses.

Hey, Grandpa, what are you looking at? It was a great time watching the kids. That was my favorite part. They did talk me into some rides I wouldn't have gone on--like the roller coaster that shoots you out to start. Cashelle, the girls, and I tried that one.
In the California Adventure side, this was a backdrop. It's hard to tell that it is only a backdrop. It was fascinating. The front two buildings were the only real buildings. The rest was a mural painting.
Right after Madalynn and I rode on the Haunted Mansion (that one was scary), Curt had to buy the kids cotton candy. He's such a good grandpa.
The same dark cloud followed us around when we went to the beach. It had been super hot before we came, and super hot after we left, but the day we went to the beach it was super cold! We still braved the elements.
That Madalynn is turning into a California surfer girl.
One of the days we traveled down to San Diego. This was an aircraft carrier at the dock.
