Out of the Cow Business

Well, it is official. We are now out of the cow business. It's kind of sad, but I know it's going to be less work for Curt--that's for sure. The calves were sold last week--the cows were taken down Monday of this week to the auction. I've felt kind of melancholy about it for the last week or two now. It's the end of an era. This picture above is "Orangie" watching Curt walk away from her last rub. She had become a family favorite. One day Curt started rubbing her and she decided she really liked it. She loved Curt. He would give her back rubs all the time.
Here is "Orangie" getting her last massage. Look how much she enjoys it.

I can't even look at that without crying. I know it will be better for Dad its just sad. It's gonna be weird on christmas day to not have dad have to go down after opening presents to do chores!!

I feel sad that Curt is out of the cow business. It's definitely an era that is over. Curt will have so much free time he'll be bored. You better get those house plans ready. I understand that Curt's retirement is nearing. That sure will be a change.
