Duncan Reunion

In the middle of July we had a sort of family reunion at my mom's house. We decided since so many people would be there, we would clean her house and yard. Here are a few pictures from the day--I didn't get a picture of everyone. This picture is of Cami on a ladder cleaning the ceiling fan (she is expecting in October). Be careful on that ladder! Angie and A.J. in the kitchen. Angie brought up a bunch of cleaning gadgets to clean with. We washed windows, walls, etc.
Outside, Kelly and I weeded the flowers while the men dug up her irises and replanted just a small start of them. That was a big job. This is Dave.
Here is Shane, Cami's boyfriend, helping out. That was nice of him to come and work like he did.
Cami and Kathy working in the kitchen.
Amanda working in the kitchen.
Chris and Brian filling up a hole where they had to fix the sprinkler irrigation line.
Curt, Shane, and Dave working in the irises.
Granny and Larry separating bunches of the iris so they could be transplanted.
Kelly, Chris, and Cody on the porch.
Angelo watering the flowers.
Granny and Curt sorting through the iris.

I wish I had taken a picture of everyone there. Those present and helping were: Arlene, Regina, Isaak, Ryan, Elisa, Ashley, Allison, Heather, Brian, Dakota, Dustin, Angie, Stetson, J.D., Felecia, Cami, Angelo, Shane, Kathy, Larry, Chris, Amanda, Cody, Cashelle, A.J., Madalynn, Audrey, Thomas, Kelly, Curt, and I as well as Grandma. Whew! I hope I didn't leave anyone out! Thanks everyone for all your hard work.

OK, I've Been Tagged . . .

I was tagged by Amber and Lacey. The rules of this game is that you cannot clean up anything before you take the pictures. Take them just as it is right now. Now I tag Bridget O., Mike and Tiff, Stef and Ross, and Lauri O.

1. My favorite room (notice the TV--must be why it's my favorite). Not really, though. I honestly don't watch much TV except maybe in the evenings when there is something decent to watch. Thus, my favorite channel is the Game Show Network--safest channel to watch. 2. My kitchen sink. (you actually caught me on a pretty good day!)
3. My toilet. (just ignore my 70's floor)
4. Self Portrait (okay, okay, this really ISN'T me--just keep reading)
THIS is the real me. Now, I have to tell you, we left Lacey's at 5:30 a.m. today so Curt could get back to work (Curt and I had a retirement seminar at SUU yesterday). I have on no makeup (except what is smudged under my eyes), I took the picture myself (a requirement), my hair hasn't been done, and I look like a goof. But, this is me.

5. Favorite shoes (my trusty skechers)

6. My messiest room (This happens to be my bedroom. I need new drapes, a new bedspread that actually matches the drapes, and an interior decorator. Other than that, this room really isn't bad. I love it at night.)
7. My closet. (Yikes, I need to go through it again.)
8. My fridge (Yes, that is still Chris/Amanda's and Lacey/Landon's wedding announcements on the freezer side door. Hey, it's only been about a year and a half. Cashelle/A.J.'s wedding announcement was on there for about two years, so I have to do the same for my other two kids.)
9. What my kids are doing right now. I don't have a picture since they have all married and moved away--but I assure you, they and their better halves have been VERY busy)

.
10. My living room. (which also happens to be my favorite room)

Fun Little "Remember Game"

Here is a fun little game...Leave a comment on my blog of a memory that you and I have had together. It doesn't matter if you've known me for a short time, or a long time, anything you remember! Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. On your mark...get set...blog your memories!!

Celebrating the 4th of July Weekend

What a busy, fun-filled 4th of July weekend. Of course it was a holiday, but Shaun also got married on July 5 to Analee Wheeler. It was a beautiful wedding. Cashelle has a picture of the happy couple on her blog. Chris, Amanda, Cody, Lacey, and Landon came up the night of July 3. Cashelle and A. J. and their family came down the morning of July 5. It is so much fun to get the family all together. We had a blast.

We had a picnic the afternoon of July 4. We rode up Manti Canyon and found a place to enjoy a picnic. This is Curt, Chris, Lacey, Landon, Amanda, and Cody in the back of the truck. We just made sandwiches, brought chips, and drinks. It was nice and cool up the canyon--and it was pretty to boot!Another picture of the crowd with me added and Curt subtracted.
Amanda set Cody down by a log. Isn't this the cutest picture? She is so good at setting up and taking interesting pictures. I could take a lesson from her.
Lucky was just trying to kiss Curt. I missed the kiss, but got them looking at each other.
Lacey, Landon, and Cody in the back of the truck.
Chris, Cody, and Lucky on the 4-wheeler. Chris took Cody off the 4-wheeler and he kept squealing and reaching for it. He loves the 4-wheeler! So Chris took him for a little drive partway down the canyon--very slowly--with Curt paving the way in the truck.
Now, isn't this the most? Chris in his element. Craig and Kristen (cousins) gave this gem of a 4-wheeler to Chris (Wes brought it home--thanks, Wes). It was so nice of Craig and Kristen to part with their little 4-wheeler. It ISN'T designed for adults, but you'll see in the following picture almost everyone had to try it out. Thanks, Craig and Kristen!
Here's Landon giving it a whirl. He said it's lots of fun to drive.
Chris and Cody--I think it'll be a little while before Cody will be riding HIS 4-wheeler.
A.J. taking his turn.
Lacey needed a turn.
Finally, the kids got to try it out. Here's Madalynn with A.J. trailing behind with a rope tied to the kill switch. They could adjust the throttle so it wouldn't go very fast, but they used the rope "just in case."
Audrey getting ready to take off. They absolutely loved riding it.
Here is Thomas showing off his skills--all by himself!
Isn't this an adorable picture? Thomas on the left--Cody on the right. Amanda bought them matching T-shirts that said "Whatever happens at Grandma's, stays at Grandmas."
Thomas, Amanda, and Madalynn on the Honda.
Sitting around the firepit in our backyard. Before we set off fireworks of our own (on July 5th), Curt lit the firepit and we made s'mores. Before the s'mores we roasted hot dogs. It was so much fun. I love this part of our backyard. Curt built it last year.
Cashelle and Lacey sitting by the fire.
Thomas with a sparkler.
Amanda lighting a sparkler for Madalynn. Cody is sure keeping his eye on what's going on.
A.J.'s dad does workshops all over the country. One of the things he does, shows how if you focus you can lift people out of their chair using only two fingers on each hand. They start out by trying to lift her with two fingers on each hand at the very first--doesn't work. Then they alternate putting their hands over her head, piling them on top of each other without touching. Then they each hold their two hands together, counting to three and raising them in the air. When they reach under her person, they can then lift them way up into the air. This is Lacey in the chair with Amanda, Chris, A.J. and Landon assisting. They also did it to me (heaven forbid, I could give them a hernia). I warned them. But it did work. They also did it to Josh.
Here is Amanda in the air supported by Chris, Lacey, A.J., and Landon.
One of the fountains going off.
We also decided to take a trip to Ferron to do a little fishing. We went up 12-mile and then across the top. From left to right: Cody, Amanda, Cashelle (with Spencer due in September), Chris, Madalynn, and Audrey. Chris caught a pretty nice one right off the bat. It was a beautiful day.
On the way up 12-mile canyon, we stopped at a place where Curt had carved his name and date in a tree. It had been in the middle of the winter. The carving was 12 or 13 feet up the tree. That shows you how deep the snow had been. He and others had gone up on snowmobiles to help rescue people in a helicopter that had crashed up there. Everyone was okay. This happened the first winter we were married--1979.
Looking down at Ferron from the west. Isn't it beautiful?
Madalynn is becoming quite the caster. She and Audrey have these cute little fishing poles that has a plastic fish on the line that they can cast out and reel in. Madalynn can really cast it out there quite a ways.
Here's Audrey. She was really getting good at casting by the time we left.
Curt fishing with A.J. sitting on the bank.
