BYU vs. UNLV Weekend--October 13-14, 2007

This whole weekend happened because of A.J.'s great idea to go to Las Vegas and watch BYU and UNLV in a football game. (BYU won, by the way) he bought matching T-shirts for Curt and Verne. They really had a great time. In the meantime, Landon suggested having Cashelle and I come down to Cedar City while they went to the game, so we did. We had a great time as you will see from the pictures below. The men had fun until the game was over. We all caravanned together to Cedar City. I rode with Cashelle and her family--the three men rode in Verne's car that A.J. decorated. You can't see the big BYU sign in the back window. Anyway, the game wasn't until 7:30 MST. Curt had to be back for church in the morning (he is the ward clerk for Snow College 1st ward--and he had to get ready for their ward conference next week). Anyway, after the game they headed home. I called at 3:30 a.m. and they were past Cedar City and almost to Parowan. When I called at 5:30 a.m., they were just going past 9-mile on their way to Sterling. After they got to Manti about 6 a.m., Curt had to make sure the cows had water (he had to round up hoses, etc., because the water had been turned off the night before). When he got home it was 7 a.m. and he had to leave by 8 a.m. to get over the Ephraim. So he got NO sleep for over 40 hours. He was pretty tired but said what a great time he had. The rest of us stayed in Cedar City Saturday night, had breakfast together Sunday morning (brunch I guess you would call it), and left to go back to Manti about noon. On the way home we stopped at Fremont Indian State Park to see the "100-Hand Cave" with the petroglyphs. It was full of handprints done by the Fremont Indians. It was a lot of fun.
Here is Madalynn doing what she loves--holding baby Cody.
Landon came over right after we got to Chris and Amanda's. Lacey had to work until 6:30 so we all got together for a while. After Lacey got home we went over to their place for a while. Then I went back to Chris and Amanda's to spend the night.
Here we are at Chris and Amanda's apartment. Amanda and the girls baked cookies while Cashelle, Chris, and I went to the grocery store to get hot dogs, buns, and chips. We ate dinner at Chris and Amanda's house. P.J. is watching Amanda pretty closely.
Madalynn and Audrey up on the top level at Park Discovery in Cedar City. It was the cutest park! It's hard to describe it. It had multilevels full of slides, swings, and facts about things. At one spot (the water had been turned off though because it was October) it described how a rainbow is made with the colors always in the same order. Then there was a button you could push to see the mist and actually view your own rainbow. There was also picnic areas, a stage, etc. It was a great park. The kids loved it.
Madalynn walking the "tight rope" at Park Discovery.
Tommy digging for dinosaurs. There was this sandbox that had "hidden" dinosaur bones. You can see the outline of a dinosaur in the background. The kids can then get in and uncover the dinosaur. What a clever idea.
We tried to get a picture of all four grandkids at the park. Madalynn was holding Cody with Audrey behind her and Tommy behind her. As you can see from the picture, Tommy really wasn't enjoying having his picture taken on the end of the slide. I was off to the side being the "spotter" just in case Madalynn couldn't hold on to Cody long enough.
Here are the two girls sitting on some mushrooms at the park.
Chris and P.J. sitting on the bench at the park. Chris and P.J. earlier had been playing with the frisbee. Also, while we were at the park, a little girl was following him around. She wanted to pet P.J. but was afraid to ask. Chris, Me, Amanda, Cody, and P.J. at Park Discovery. That night, after Lacey got off work, we all went to a quaint little Mexican restaurant for dinner (Lacey, Landon, Chris, Amanda, Cody, Cashelle, Madalynn, Audrey, Thomas, and Me). We had a great time until Cashelle got the hair-brained idea to whisper to the waitress that it was my birthday--NOT! I was so embarrassed. When they came out in their garb singing, Madalynn shrugged her shoulder and said, "Well, I guess it's your birthday then." When they had left, Madalynn said, "They didn't even know your name, Gammie." I can't remember the name Madalynn said they sang but it was rather funny. We all shared a bowlful of fried ice cream for my "un"birthday.
Cashelle trying to get her little family ready for bed at Lacey and Landon's apartment. All you can see of Madalynn was her legs. She wasn't hyper or anything . . . Cashelle and her kids and dog stayed at Lacey and Landon's apartment. I stayed at Chris and Amanda's apartment.
Tommy getting his "jammies" on.
Cody enjoying his bath on Sunday morning.
Cody getting his bath in the kitchen sink with mommy and Gammie helping.

Cody in his towel just after his bath. He was much happier with some clothing on.
Look at this handsome boy, Cody! What a stud! He was talking up a storm after his bath along with some pretty cute smiles and coos.
Chris and Oliver at their apartment
Here is the clan waiting for breakfast. Lacey and Landon taught the girls how to play a couple of games on their Wii while they were there. They had a blast.
Here we are, cooking breakfast at Lacey and Landon's apartment. We used two griddles (one was Amanda's and one was Lacey's). Lacey, where are you? I didn't get you in any of my pictures this time . . .

The girls eating breakfast at Landon and Lacey's. We had eggs, bacon, pancakes, cinnamon/raisin bread from Harvest Bread Company, milk, and apple juice. Yummy!
Look at this! Chris is changing a dirty diaper! Cody had a "blow-out" at Lacey and Landon's while we were cooking breakfast. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Chris changing the diaper. This is the boy that gagged when he got dog poop on his shoe. Landon's sitting in the corner laughing at Chris doing his "daddy" chores. Madalynn, Me, and Audrey on footbridge leading to the cave of "100-Hands"
Audrey, Madalynn, Tommy, and Cashelle standing in front of the "100-Hand Cave" at Fremont Indian State Park
