Sanpete County Fair

Can you believe I didn't even take any pictures of the Sanpete County Fair weekend? Duh! Chris, Amanda, and Cody came up (Chris was already here for work) on Thursday. We went to the Demolition Derby on Thursday. We all sat with Logan, Katie (his girlfriend), and Lyndsay. With a new fair board, things have changed a LOT. They took out a lot of the arena space (which I didn't like) and Kerry Duel wasn't announcing. I really missed him. He made the derby. We didn't enjoy it as much as usual. Nick Shaw won the Wipeout again.

On Friday, we went to the rodeo (Curt and I both had to work all day.). On Saturday we had a busy day. In the morning we walked around to see the tractor show and car show. We took Cody through "Fun on the Farm" (which I'll explain a little more later), went to the animal barn and watched the auction for a minute, went through the small animal barn, and watched the mud volleyball for a minute. We got home about noon. The "Fun on the Farm" exhibit was really cute. There were eight or so little buildings that the kids would go through and follow a picketed trail to the next one. In the first building, they had an apron to put on, pick up a bucket, and fill up a bag of seed. I can't remember the order but following are some of the things they had to do: milk a cow (they had a big wooden cow rigged up that they had to sit on a stool and milk it) and then they got a milk mustache sticker to wear; they had to get on a tractor (bike) and haul a miniature bale of hay; they got to pick apples off a tree and put it in their basket; they got to pick up a strip of bacon and steak and put them in the basket; had to rope a cow (steel one); feed the chickens with the feed they had; learn about brands; at the end they had to sort everything they had in their baskets and put it in the proper container. Then they were given a "dollar" bill and could buy something in the little store at the end. Cody chose a box of juice and said, "Can I buy it?" and gave the store owner his dollar. It was so cute! In each one there was some learning to take place. Cody was too small to do a lot of that but he looked so cute in his apron. Amanda and I both forgot our cameras.

In the afternoon we went to the parade and then to the rodeo again at night. At the parade a lot of the Kjars showed up: Amy/Jason and family; Allynne/Daniel and family; Tracy and family; Canda/Drew; Carol/Steve; Lila/John; Grandma Kjar; Shaun; (did I forget anyone?) and Chris, Amanda, Cody, Curt and I. We really had a great time.
